Happy New Year! Yes, I admit I still watched the ball drop last night but after yesterday’s post I am more focused to run with it instead. Recovering the fumble of past years, so to speak. One of the key plays for a quarterback, is relying on his team and making the best of the offense. ( I don’t know why I am on this football kick, I never watch it but as I said, I am running with the ball)
I need to build a good offense and need a team to help me. To get me to Super Bowl status, I need your help. I want to learn to cook this year and I need a playbook to learn that. I was raised in the meal plans of fast food. What you could mix out of a box; throw in the oven to thaw and magically become a hot meal, or from can opener to stove to bowl in 4 minutes flat. Yes, I learned to cook by popping the Banquet Fried Chicken in the oven, whipping up potatoes in the form of flakes, and a can of green beans in a bowl. This Big Girl needs and WANTS you!
Please give me sites about cooking. Recipes, basics of cooking, and all the in-between. I am HUNGRY!
I am hungry to learn. So what is the best way for me to do that and get the support I need. Give me your blogs. Share with me. Please add your name and your blog to the widget. I will try your recipes. I will follow those more talented than me, those with more know how, and an art for making the stove sing.
I am ready…. Lead me to the goal posts for a touchdown.

I am not that great of a cook but highly recommend Once a Month Mom, $5 Dinners, Carrie's Cooking and A Southern Fairytale. All great blogs with yummy recipes.
I am a food blogger myself ( I obviously recommend my own site) but I think of the best sites for a beginning cook is The Pioneer Woman. She takes lots and lots of step by step photographs to get you through a recipe and her cooking is easy and straightforward. Check her out: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/
Good luck!
Here's my fav for all things healthy: http://www.myrecipes.com. They have recipes from Cooking Light for FREE! Good luck! Let us know how it's going!
Yes, I am another big girl bombshell
I'm also a food blogger, and over the past year or two have been on a quest to figure out what this cooking thing is all about. Not the throw this package with this canned thing, but how do I use vegetables and things that don't contain unpronouncable ingredients? How do I learn to cook without recipes? You are welcome to join me in my learning journey on my blog http://www.thelocalcook.com.
Cook Australian …we use lots of fresh produce and I wouldn't have takeaway (fast food) more than a couple of times a year.

I added my link up there but I also want to recommend 101cookbooks.com. She has tons of great recipes and they are healthy, too.
Good luck learning how to cook!
Thank you One and ALL for all these great suggestions! I will be posting some of my cooking adventures. Keep those sites coming! I love to check them all out.
I'm not a good cook, but I highly recommend the following site. Some of her food is delicious and so easy I can do some of the dishes. http://feedingfiveforfifty.blogspot.com/
PS-I mistakenly posted my website on your widget. Thanks for stopping by earlier!
Hi – added myself to the Mr Linky! Skip back in my archives a bit, because December was all about the treats. I have lot of recipes that use fresh ingredients, including plenty of veggies. You may want to check out http://www.recipegirl.com/2009/12/12/ten-in-10-ten-weeks-to-healthy-in-2010-here-are-the-details/, which is a 10 week effort by a bunch of food bloggers to get a handle on being more healthy this year. I applaud anyone who decides to take control over the food they eat and wish you all the best!
I've added my site, "My Tasty SPace" to your mr Linky as well. I love to cook, and I love to share the recipes I find and create, with my reader(s). I hope you'll come visit, I think you'll find something yummy & EASY
Burn Your Recipes!
Written recipes don't teach you to cook any more than having sheet music teaches you to play piano. Having more recipe books isn't the answer.
The problem for home cooks isn't cooking, it's following the written recipe. Cooking is an art form. If it's art, it's open to artistic interpretation. We don't tell a painter, "use 1.7ounces of green paint, paint for 22 minutes, and you'll have a landscape." The painter will use as much green paint as she wants, paint for as long as she wants, until the creation is complete. Why is cooking the only art form to require a set of strict instructions?
I've taught thousands of people all over the world to cook like a chef at home, without written recipes, using basic cooking methods and the ingredients you desire. I'd love to help you Big Girl Bombshell.
When a recipe calls for "one onion, chopped", how big is this onion? When is says "medium heat", how do you quantify medium? When a recipe instructs me to cook for 20 minutes, how do they know? How do they know how thick the chicken breast is, what my pan is made out of, how hot my stove gets, and all the variables that go into cooking from recipes?
Empower yourself over the written recipe and learn to cook with the basic methods that will improve any written recipe, or have you creating your own recipes daily.
Let's blog together about how I helped you learn to cook like a chef at home.
