The Bounty is Yours to Reap and Sow
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Yesterday I suggested you write a love letter to yourself. My love letter incorporates many things, as tomorrow starts a new journey for me. I have recently decided to search for and gain support from the wonderful people I am meeting through my blog. I have joined the new Lady Blogger’s Society and the not so new Mamavation SistaHood. This letter also serves as my pledge to others who are a journey like no other. Hopefully, this also serves as showing you some things about me that you do not know, to fulfill my acceptance of the Honest Scrap award bestowed on me by Angelia. So sit back and enjoy!
My Dearest Julie, Jules, Bubbles, Guru, Mom, Medium size Puppy, JuJuBee and all the other endearing titles you have so proudly carried over your life. They all represent a piece, a very special part of who you are and what you mean to others. You are a complicated, yet beautiful bouquet of bits and pieces that blend so well together.
I have known you for 49 years, but its only recently that I have come to love you – all of you! It’s like falling in love for the very first time. The excitement, the joy of the little discoveries of the newness of our relationship. The subtle things that make my heart go pitter – patter, noticing how your warm smile can light up a room. You are not only a survivor but a tender warrior princess who can dig deep and find that one positive thing when many would crumble and wither away.
You have brought all of you – from the lost little girl at the tender age of 5, who knew that life would be challenging. From your fondest memory of the little boy across the street who would climb up in the tree and chant “Julie Kay, Julie Kay – Can you come out and play?” to your sense of wonderment of learning to have faith in something beyond yourself when you felt the traditional GOD had abandoned you early on.
Your playful integretation of the Wizard of Oz that keeps you believing in a journey of magical Ruby Red Slippers and learning to believe in yourself. Like Dorothy, you want everyone to join you on your journey so they too can find their Somewhere Over the Rainbow, where the troubles melt like lemon drops. Where they can see they have ALWAYS had it inside.
With all the past history of a struggle behind the different facets that make up who you are, our love affair started last year with the garden. It was a beautiful, wonderous garden. It was so bountiful, not just because of the amount of seeds planted, but because of the tender love and care you gave to it. It gave me the first glimpses into taking care of a body that had been loathed for way too long.
With each day, the garden check became our secret rendezvous into the pleasures and creation of our new life together. Each new sprout became an affirmation into how love, nurturing, tenderness, and daily watering could open up whole new beginnings. It sparked a love affair like no other. You wanted to know more!
You craved the sunlight of change, wanting to try new things, wanting to sprout as a person and learn to love everything about you. The parts of you and your body that you had kept buried under the soil for no one to see. You want to grabe the sun and secretly, and somehow mysteriously, reach the moonlight, to start each day breaking just a little bit more through the layers of that dirt that wanted to hold you tightly within that shell.
I adore your creativity of your writing and how you often surprise me with your thoughts and ideas. That, too, has sprouted from the pages of your jounals to the big, open fields of blogsphere. It feeds your soul and you continue to morph into the woman you longed to be. You strive to open the seeds of your inner strength, but you share your bounty with each word.
How ironic, as life is, that your journey has become like the garden. Your recent health issues with your body, burdened with fatigue and no energy, that once would have derailed you is turning out to be a lack of Vitamin D. The sunshine vitamin. That is just a small reminder that your body needs to sprout through the dirt, grab hold of the warmth, love, nurturing, and daily tending to blossom out of your tight bud to become the beautiful, colorful bouquet of everything that has been trapped beneath the soil of your skin. It’s trulytime to let your inner radiance illuminate your existence.
The Bounty is yours to Reap and Sow!
With all my love, for the rest of your days!
Julie Kay

I see writing is therapeutic for you. That is good cause keeping a food journal and describing your feelings in it will be helpful.
To start your journey with the Mamavation Sistahood, I'd like you to think of two small changes you'd like to make. Please keep them small cause it's best to implement things that are tolerable at first. Make one of them nutrition based and one activity based. Just remember to keep them small.
Can't wait to hear about your progress next week and see you on twitter. XXOO
