In Search of Recipes for Success
At the beginning of the year, I put out a post Help Me Learn to Cook The comments response was great with lots of referrals to sites with tons of recipes. What I was looking for when I posted this, was learning the basics and learning how to update my cooking skills. Following a recipe or following a strict diet plan is something I can do. What I was truly looking for was learning WHAT could help me be more creative in my choices of healthy with less processed foods.
One of my many Bombshell favorites is In Pursuit of My Inner Pinup started a recipe redux project using her old cookbook collection and reduxing to include Weight Watcher points and reduced calorie options. She kindly agreed to allow me to post them here and I have started that under the Recipe link. These recipes are what I was looking for. These recipes show me some of the options that I can use to create healthy versions of some old favorites.
In the same respects, Diane at Fit to the Finish, is another Bombshell favorite. She was chosen as one of the 100 people who have lost 100 on the Dr. Oz show. It aired yesterday. I was only able to watch the beginning of the show but it inspired me. She gave a hint of number foods 1 to 10 to help you make healthy choices. I started to read about her program on her site and will be reading more on that this week.
One of my recipes for success is to try new things. One priority is to feed my body not my emotions. So I am looking for ideas, what you use, what you read, what you like and what you want to share. I want to go back to basics. As far as food, I like the idea I read recently about if your Grandma didn’t hear of it, maybe you shouldn’t eat it.
Reading labels and portion control is a big factor in living a healthier lifestyle. I am a big believer in goal setting but the one thing I have learned is that you must build a foundation before you can pursue the goal. That is what part of my Makeover is. Learning the foundations that work for me. I want to feed my body with healthy food and healthy exercise. So comment and let me know where you go or if you have anything that you would like to share and if I can include those in my blog categories of diet or exercise. We are in this together and I want to learn!

Hey, I gave you the Beautiful Blog award on my site
Your posts are so inspiring.
I’m working on building a foundation, too. I’ve realized that in order to make this a lifelong thing I need to focus on whole, natural foods and include exercise.
February 17, 2010 at 9:04 amMy friend Christie and I are masters at “WW-izing” food that we eat every day. I hadn’t thought about posting the madeover recipes on my site. I might have to start doing that.
February 17, 2010 at 9:39 amI am such a bad cook! I eat a lot of basics & spice them up with non salt seasonings, portion control on mustards I like, things like that. Nothing fancy as it ne3ver quite works out for me!
I also use protein powder in my oatmeal & yogurt & other foods for some added protein since I weight lift pretty hard core.. as you know!
I don’t eat hardly any packaged or frozen foods unless the frozen is plain ole veggies or fruit.
Like Diane, I always rate my food when there is a choice for a treat. If it does not meet my 10 OR I can say to myself that I really would rather have something else & I am just eating this because it is there, I turn it down. If it is not worth the calories & what I have to do to work it off, it is a NOT for me.

February 18, 2010 at 10:47 amI like this post. I think reading labels and portion control are two important things that people disregard. Weight loss and healthy living can be aided by these two simple things.
