I am slowly, but surely, discovering the key to my success. It is simple and complicated all at the same time. Portion Control. But not just with my food intake or my calories. The key for me, for my success, is portion control in 3 important areas.
- MIND
- BODY
- SPIRIT
To be whole, I need to honor each of these areas of my life. Part of the black and white thinking for me, has been make a decision, and full speed ahead. However, I am learning more and more each day, that slow and steady goes it. I have to feed each part of me, to be who I am. So here are my most recent goals, habits, spark streaks, whatever you want to call them.
1. Pay Attention to Each Area, Each Day
2. Be responsible ONLY to yourself but don’t let the independent nature take over
3. Drink 8 cups a water a day
4. Wii Body Test and minimum 10 minutes of cardio every morning
5. Write every day!
I have a big confession to make. I have been letting my know-it-all, answers inside, believe in myself, smart self sabotage my success. Yes, I have. Case in point. I have long been a believer and supporter of life coaching and positive thinking. I started my journey many years back with affirmations, vision boards, positive thinking, utilizing the power of a personal life coach, and wanting to be a life coach myself. That was one of my goals, 10 years ago, when I returned to school. Oh yeah, full speed ahead. 44 units in 2 semesters with a 3.97 GPA. The second semester was 24 units, double load, with a 4.0. But I have been resting on those laurels for way too long.
I won “The Spark” book back at the start of the New Year, from the Cranky Fitness giveaway. Actually, it was from a Tweet. I got the book and started reading it. I was doing WW at the time but still half heartedly talking about SparkPeople. Something about it was more helpful than the WW online, for me. At the same time, I was gearing up for my own class, “My Life is Weighting”. I got the book, started reading, and then a funny thing happened. My EGO got in the way. I gave the book to my daughter to take home because I knew I would read it and it might influence me while preparing for my class. OMG! Let me say that again OMG!
My independent stubbornness and my EGO sabotaged my own success. My whole approach to action speaks louder than words and walk my talk and practice what you preach! I have been known to do that SO MANY times. (Sorry, Coachie!) Letting down my guard, releasing my EGO and the know-it-all is part of my success tactics. I may know what I need to do, but I don’t always know WHY. And guess what, that is okay. Instead of pursuing the “right” thing or the answer, I will just feed each piece of me. There will be much more on this, but for today, I am letting go of my EGO and taking responsibility to DO the right thing, when no one is looking……..especially the EGO!

Ahh, this makes so much sense to me. I am right there with ya!
Hallelujah Sista!
I’ve been mulling over a ton of ideas in my head lately. The idea from you, my own ideas, ideas from hubby and friends, but I haven’t actually done anything yet. I’ve taken NO action. Can you believe it? It’s amazing! And it just feels….WRONG!
I’m about to do something about that though….soon.
I have actually come up with great ideas – however my excuses come in heavier and I listen to them instead. I call it self sabotage.
We keep learning more about ourself each day, don’t we!!!
Exactly. It’s so easy to think “I know all that” when you read or hear something, but if you know it and don’t apply it then do you really know!
this is all a JOURNEY huh?
just when I “master” (wink) one area I realize 28 others need a bit of finessing….
