Have you ever had that feeling that you just KNOW, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you are ready!
You know that feeling of the planets are aligned, every plan, every exercise, every challenge, and every support beam is in place.
That is how I feel TODAY! I have the feeling that I could conquer the world! I am on top of it right now, this moment!
Why is that? Because I had a few goals for myself. It took me awhile to get here. LOTS of time…but it is that feeling of I have arrived!
I start my true, honest to goodness, follow the Yellow Brick Road, REALGOALS™ on Monday with the WD Slimdown Project.
Reasonable Expectations, Authentic Living, Good Orderly Actions Leading to Success! Not just Smart but REAL!
Last night, before bed, I was writing a few post ideas down. Jody, one of FAV bloggers, someone I strive to be like in the area of physical health, popped up in my Google Reader. So, I floated on over there. She asked the question at the end of her post, What do you do now to make sure you go after your goals?
So, I decided that I could not answer that in her small comment box, so that is what I would post about today. So, I dug back through the computer archives to read through some of my writings on Goal Setting. I actually cried when I read it because that is when I saw the planets were aligned! (Yes! Blogs work in mysterious ways!)
DREAMS
My dreams are big. And boy do I have lots of them. Often it was just too overwhelming. So my dreams actually became my means for escape. I relied on that dreaming to help me get through the mundane pace of day to day. As I sat behind my computer at my 9 – 5 job, dreaming of working from home. My home was a large house where I can entertain family and friends, live comfortably, work from a home office, sharing my inspirations with others. I would have more time for the things I enjoy instead of everything revolving around my work schedule. I would have the money to live comfortably and my family would be well taken care of. I would have the financial freedom to travel, have nice material things and be my own boss.
QUESTION
Take each of your goals and write down three things that you could do to achieve that goal.
For example:
- Have a career as a paid professional writer
- Lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle
- Have more time to spend with my family and do the things I want to do for me
BREAK IT DOWN
Now back to my original dreams. How would I do the same with dreams I listed?
Have a career as a paid professional writer
- Re-activate my Accelerated Program for Six-Figure Copywriting program
- Start a blog and write every day
- Submit my writing to AWAI for contests and $10K Challenge items
Lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle
- Use my writing and a blog to add accountability on my efforts
- Create a vision board that incorporates ALL my dreams (health, wealth & success)
- Subscribe to the Early to Rise and Golden Thread newsletters
Have more time to spend with my family and do the things I want to do for me
- Move toward a career that supports my dreams of health, wealth, & success
- Use my writing to help bring in extra income and slowly build my writing business
- Lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle so it won’t hold me back
ACTIONS
Now that I have it all listed out, what are the nice orderly, daily tasks I can do to move toward my goals.
- Write everyday, whether that is in my journal, on my blog, submitting to contest and challenges, or on a book I hope to publish.
- Read everyday. Read something inspirational, motivational or entertaining.
- Be conscious everyday. Conscious of my health, the food I eat, the exercise I get, and how I treat myself and others.
I have honestly and truly been taking these last three steps over the last year. I have not completely achieved my goals and honestly, a few have changed. But I am on an incredible path…my yellow brick road as I say, to KNOW and TRUST, I am headed in the right direction and I am WALKING my TALK! It’s right here in black and white, staring me in the face!
What do you think? Are you just dreaming or do you have REALGOALS™?

i’ve noticed my goals have become more immediate and personal than long planning and/or professional. Like, ride the horse, go to the library, dance with friends and stay loyal to the Artist Way. And if to think long term this is what comes to mind peace and joy. Do believe a path is being cleared after many, many years of responsibilities and drive therefore long term and short term goals feel right in present time.

I want to feel like you today! You nailed me – no real goals. Not that I shy away, I just don’t know what I want out of life. Maybe if I figured it out I wouldn’t eat so much instead:)
