Remember the time when you were carefree and Exercise meant play, Strength meant the Strong Man at the circus, and Support wasn’t talked about much, it was just there (or not).
Miz and Mrs asked us to join them in a mission:
We picked three words (EXERCISE, STRONG & SUPPORT) and interviewed the little people in our lives to see what their definitions of the words were. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to join in the potential mayhem post as well.Grab your child.Snag a neighbor-kid, niece, nephew or any other willing little person in you can find. And ask them what the words EXERCISE, STRONG, & SUPPORT mean
So I grabbed my personal fitness trainer, The little Princess, and asked her what these meant to her
Exercise: Warming up for that big activity
Strong: Big Puppy (That’s her Dad)
Support: that you care
Then I thought about what my older kids teach me too. So I asked them both.
#1 Princess
Exercise – To me this means not only stretching your muscles but also stretching your mind. To everyday becomes a day of exercise. No matter what I face within that day I am exercising some part of myself to get the end result.

She is the reflection of what I am….I heard my own voice as I read her definitions.
why do I love this so?
it makes me SMILE HARD you know.
our girls they crazywild&fun.
Id leave you more but my TIMES DONE
My child calls
it’s time to play
we’re heading outside
to START OUR DAY.
We can all learn a lot from your kiddos, including they are doing exactly what they should be doing: Being kids without worrying about the scale, calories, heart rate, yadda, yadda, yadda!
I also learned that these kids have great examples in their life. How lucky are they?!
RE: your first paragraph –
Sadly, and this is where I will play the part of contrarian, there is very broad line between recreation and exercise.
Where recreation was once enough to help us feel and stay healthy (enough), today more people need much more exercise than recreation.
There is a crisis going on here. I just don’t think it’s enough to play sweet games with our children. I think we need to be more blunt…
Forgive me.
Learning to live – which often means: Mind Your Own Business. Not easy when much of life has been about caring for others, and learning how others can care for themselves. Oh my! Time for me. Wow! Let me go walk and ponder upon this…..
Loved your & your family’s thoughts on this! Beautiful post!
So glad you played along with us! It’s neat to hear your voice through your daughter. My son provides the same for me – both rewarding AND unsettling at the same time.
Now, like Miz, I’m off to play!
