what life should be — before & after

Don’t you just LOVE this before & after picture…..

I don’t know about you but it reminds me of what life SHOULD be

This is Princess V celebrating her birthday with one of her BFF’s (as she says)

This BFF represents the one she doesn’t get to see or talk to often, is not part of her everyday life, (she lives out of town) but is the one she gets along with best, giggles and giggles with for hours, and once a little time is spent it seems as if no time has passed at all.

This represent a second generation of fun and friendship, as the BFF’s Mom and I have been friends before either of the girls were even a thought in our minds.

But as I look at the pictures, I see through their eyes, this IS what life should, could and is destined to be.

At the start of a new adventure the apprehensive smiles are there but almost a posed, “Smile because the camera is there” type.

All posed and let’s get going already.

At the end of the day, heart felt silliness, joy and REAL smiles!

Those are the moments we hope to capture each and every day.

And WE CAN!

When we let go of our own apprehensive, let’s get going already, attitude because who may be looking smiles.

That is what letting go of the dieting is changing for me.

Just out of my own curiosity, I stepped on the scale today to try out the new attitude of it no longer being a nemesis to me.

Lo and behold, to my utter amazement, I have broke my plateau.

The scale has moved downward 8 pounds in the last 4 weeks

All because I have been viewing my life through LARGE pink glasses and heart felt REAL smiles moment by moment

What does this BEFORE & AFTER pic say to YOU?

Comments

  1. ahhhh life here for me right now is all about LETTING GO and letting my inner princess V out :)

  2. Yay for the scale sliding down (when you weren’t looking and living instead!)!

This reminds me of two things: a “Full of Awesome” post I read and wrote about last year sometime… a mother noticing her 5 yr old woke up every day feeling confident and on top of the world. She’d dress in mismatched clothing and think she was just the bee’s knees!

Then a Zen Habits post, in which Leo Babauta wrote about joy and happiness and commented that his small daughter’s trip to the dentist was full of amazement and excitement because of the way she (ie. a child) looked at things. Those things which would cause us angst (well me!) or just an everyday occurence: the commute and elevator ride to the dentist’s rooms were like a game to his daughter.

It’s like your picture and post – reminding us to look at the world through a child’s eyes sometimes – without all of the baggage we often bring with us.

  3. It says that when we follow our heart’s desires, our bodies respond in kind :-)

  4. Smiles!! Yes always smiles! =)

  5. Good for you, Jules – you really seem to have hit your stride. Keep setting those good examples for the rest of us!
